How to cancel search in Eclipse

When I search for something in Eclipse, the search items remain highlighted for some time. How to remove this after I found what I was looking for?

Delete matches in the search box to remove the selection. Ie, click the button with two X characters in the search box.

If you do not see this view, go to window → show view → Search

AFIAK, in the search results window there is a button on the toolbar to clear the search results. This removes the highlight in the editor.

Disable settings-> General-> Text editors-> Annotations-> Search results-> Text as.

An alternative way is to run a search that will not yield any results. For example, searching for a file containing text is to leave this field empty, files are some kind of stupid extension like ".qwe".

For people who are concerned that https://stackoverflow.com/a/312690/2/2/2/2/2/... removes search results from history.

Select a search from the history, click "Run the current search again" (2 symbols of arrow rotation). This will start the search and you will return all the results (this, unfortunately, also returns text highlighting).
