Java for developing applications for iphone?

I mainly used Java and have experience with it. I want to develop some iphone applications and would like to know if there is a way to develop an iphone application using Java or iphone development, can only be done using Objective-C?

Also, if Objective-C is the only way to go, then it would be very helpful if you could recommend some books or links where I can start working on Iphone Development, my background is entirely Java based and I don't work with C or C ++ professionally in the past.

Any recommendations / suggestions will help a lot.

Can we have a quick comparison of Objective-C vs Java or a similar comparison of oranges with Apple, just trying to get some similarities in Objective-C from a Java point of view, so I have some knowledge that can be used when learning Objective-C, any offers?
