Ansi-term / mult-term error in the technology filter

In both terms ansi-term and mult-term, after I cd into the directory, I get an error message and distorted output, as a result of which the content lsis printed, but superimposed on the prompt. This is as long as I get

$ cd /Users/crippledlambda/VirtualBoxDocuments
$ ls
  [properly shows contents]
$ cd programs
$ ls
  [properly shows contents]
$ cd newproject
$ ls
  [garbled output]

Message in the minibuffer: "error in process filter: /Users/crippledlambda/VirtualBoxDocuments/prog/: no such directory"

The content is lsprinted so that it recognizes the files in the directory, but a new prompt appears above the content ls, not below, and in the query line this text remains:

$ lsrams/newproject
$
  [contents of ls]

Do you know about this problem or a problem or what is the best way to debug this error? Thank -
