Android autoupdate from own server

I was looking for a good example how to update my own application. So, I have installed apk installed on my device, and when I started it, I would like to check if there are any updates on my server. If so, download from the web server and install it.

First I need to check on my server if there are any updates. If this happens, download and install it.

What is the best way to do this? And can someone show me some kind of textbook or maybe an example?

thank you for your responses

Check this link . It uses an HTTP connection in an async job to download an APK file from a URL. When the download is complete, it will start a new intention to show / install the APK ( see this article ).
