Why doesn’t the WebSphere 7 console "_Save_ directly for configuration" appear when making changes?

I am using WebSphere 7 (running my web application from IBM RAD 7).

I am trying to enable application protection for my web application.

In the console, when I select Security> Global Security> Administrative Security, select the Enable Administrative Security check box and click Apply ... a window appears at the top of the console that says (among other things) Save directly in the main configuration. "I click" Save "and the changes are saved.

However, when I select Applications> Application Types> WebSphere Enterprise Applications> "MyAppEAR"> Security Role for mapping users and groups and mapping my user group to my user, the "Save Directly ..." link never appears.

I cannot figure out how to keep my mappings between users. As they appear in the on-screen mapping table, as soon as I click and return, they disappear.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Turns out my problem is exactly the same in this problem:

I saw crazy things when I use Chrome (which is my preferred browser) and I switch to FF when the web application behavior is bizzare.
