Does Safari iOS support DNS Prefetch?

I recently came across the DNS Prefetch directive as part of the HTML5 Boilerplate template. According to Wikipedia :

Prefetching is currently not explicitly defined by any accepted standards, but Mozilla has announced a project on the Internet that will be consistent with the implementation in Firefox.

<link rel="prefetch" href="http://www.example.com/">

I read information about what was fixed in September 2010 for Safari 5.0.1 , which recorded slow / paused page loads when DNS directives were submitted. However, I could not get information on whether Safari on iOS supports DNS prefetching.

We create several HTML 5 pages that load exclusively in the UIWebView in the iOS app. There are several external resources on this page that we are loading, so I would like to improve the page load time and use DNS prefetching if it helps.

Unfortunately, it cannot give a satisfactory full answer, but definitely not until iOS 4.3.3 in accordance with http://osdir.com/ml/phonegap/2011-07/msg00770.html
