Has anyone had any success with VB6 and Source Control?

I am currently using Source Safe with an outdated VB6 application, and I have noticed many times when the application does not update files correctly using the latest version, or adding new files to the project. I just think that someone should have a better way to use version control with VB6 applications.

Use something else - anything. Three other popular open / open source solutions are git, mercurial, and svn. I doubt that git and mercurial integrate into VB6, but SVN has an integration solution - you can find it here: http://svnvb6.tigris.org/

For what it's worth, I'm used to the fact that the IDE does not integrate source control, so integration would not even be a factor in my decision if I chose a new solution.

I would give SourceGear Vault a shot. They have VB6 integration and it works well. In addition, it is free for 2 users.

In VSS explorerconfigure Tools | Optionstab Local Fileswith setting Compare files byto Contents. This can slow down VSS operations a bit.
