How to load the balance of the SOLR server? Is radish a good solution?

I am writing a web application that often beats the SOLR server. I plan to create several instances of this SOLR server so that one particular server does not hit too hard. What is the best way to load balance?

I was thinking of creating a Redis store that will store the number of current requests on the SOLR server and query in this store to get the SOLR server with the least number of current requests. Of course, I will update this store every time a request is made.

Is this a better approach? What would you do in this situation?
