Difference between inline and incremental id generator

Question

What is the main difference between when we use nativeand incrementgenerator types id in sleep mode.

Since I had an entity in which the generator was previously native, but then changed it for some time incremental, it worked correctly. But only yesterday, when I changed to again native, the insert did not indicate Contraint Violation.

I have an index set in a field idthat is automatically generated.

Something is missing for me.
