Several synonyms for search queries

Question

I need to have more than one synonym for the search query in magento (version 1.4.2.0 - cannot update it at the moment), but all my attempts to add several synonyms have failed.

I looked around without any solution, did any of you have a similar need and managed to find a solution?

So, you have people who are looking for "doodad" or "dodad" and you want to show people "macguffin".

So far, you tried to add these search terms to the end, but it did not work.

The workaround is surprisingly simple.

Enter "dodad" in the interface - the result is not specified.

"doodad" - .

.

'dodad' 'doodad' . "macguffin" .

"dodad" "doodad" , "macguffin" .
