It is considered acceptable that you have no comments in good Ruby code?

I looked at professional code written in Ruby and did not find any comments. The code was clear enough for reading, but not for self-documentation. Should I expect professionally written Ruby code to contain comments? Or, is there any Ruby doctrine that comments are not considered significant?

This issue is not unique to Ruby.

Code comments should be kept to an absolute minimum, as they usually do not update when the code changes and become more misleading than useful.
