Highcharts: Is it possible to have a separate story for each series?

I want to have two scatterplots in my chart. One with a line width of 1, and the other without a line. As far as I understand, plotOptions applies to all diagrams of the indicated type, therefore either all scatter plots have a line width or nothing. Can plotOptions be applied to specific series?

In addition to the members listed below, any member of the Options plot for this particular type of chart can be added to the series separately. For example, although the general specification of lineWidth is specified in plotOptions.series, a separate line of width may be specified for each series.
