SQL Server 2008 production performance in a production environment?

I am going to move the servers and I was talking to someone and they suggested using SQL Server Express 2008 installed on the servers. I have full access to the server.

Is this express engine running at the same speed (performance) as real SQL Server 2008?

I know about the limitations of i..e max 4 GB per DB ... and not more than 1 GB of memory ... Given that the server has 2 GB installed and is used in conjunction with windows ... I don’t see this being a problem, but I would like to hear some reviews ..

I have about 4 dbs .. and they probably have 4 users logged into them at the same time, but this is not very effective ...

What I'm really trying to measure is to install the SQL SERVER 2008 FULL server version on the server or express it.

Any help with the selection would be really helpful.

An express appears that uses the same database engine as the FULL version ...

I don't need smart replication, clustering, or similar things ...

But I want to go the right way ...

Any help really appreciated

You are likely to be aware of Express. This is the same main engine. If you ever want to upgrade, the process should be pretty painless.

you should be fine, performance should be similar to the full version in your case, since your databases are small
