Saving Unity PlayerPrefs

I use several PlayerPrefsin my Unity application (platforms: iOS, Android, Windows). Now I want to release an update, so the question is: when users update applications there - will it be PlayerPrefssaved? The problem is that I save the game progress in these prefs, and if users lose it after the update, it will be very bad.

Is there any reliable information about this issue?

How do you release this update? A new version of the application or new content transferred through asset pools?
