Well, it seems that Safari 5.1, at least on Lion, which I use, now decides to unload tabs from memory, if it considers it necessary.
The big problem with this is sites that display ajax warnings or those that have chats, like GMail. I had two conversations in Google Talk directly on the GMail website, and when I was on a different tab, I noticed that the heading was blinking, indicating new messages in my conversations, as soon as I clicked on the Safari tab, I decided to completely reload the page. having lost all these conversations (I do not keep magazines).
It goes without saying that this behavior violates modern web applications and seems unnecessary on a desktop computer. I understand that this is necessary on iOS devices due to ram related limitations.
Is there a way to disable this “feature”, I could not find a way to do this. This is either switching to Chrome or Firefox, but I like Safari.
