Problems connecting to Sql Server CE 4.0 with Sql Management Studio 2008

Question

I need to configure and maintain an MS Sql CE 4.0 database. I created 4.0 DB (with .sdf extension) using visual studio 2010, but when I try to connect to management studio 2008, I get this error:

"Incompatible database version"

Is it unrealistic that Microsoft really tells me that I cannot use 4.0 with management studio?

I don't really like scripting ... I need to use the studio for dev purposes.

Any ideas?
