When I reinstall AppFabric 1.1 , why do I get this error "AppFabric installation failed because the MSI installer returned with error code: 1603" .

I started it with administrator rights.

The following is the error log.

I had a similar problem

9/21/2012 11:28:01 AM EXEPATH=powershell.exe PARAMS=-command "$str = [System.Environment]::GetEnvironmentVariable(\"PSModulePath\", [System.EnvironmentVariableTarget]::Machine); $str = $str+\";c:\Program Files\AppFabric 1.1 for Windows Server\PowershellModules\"; c:\Windows\system32\setx.exe /M PSModulePath \"$str\"" LOGFILE=C:\Users\XXXXXXX\AppData\Local\Temp\AppServerSetup1_1_CustomActions(2012-09-21 11-27-26).log Error: ERROR: Invalid syntax. Default option is not allowed more than '2' time(s). Error: Type "SETX /?" for usage.

My problem was that PSModulePath had the wrong "in it"

It was:

C: \ Windows \ system32 \ WindowsPowerShell \ v1.0 \ Modules \; C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Microsoft SQL Server \ 110 \ Tools \ PowerShell \ Modules "

To change this, go to Control Panel β†’ System β†’ Advanced system settings β†’ On the Advanced tab, select Environment Variables β†’ In the System Variables section there is a variable named PSModulePath , select it β†’ Click Change . > β†’ Remove trailing "

I fixed this error in my deployment. This happened only for me, if earlier I ran the installer. As soon as you run the installer, it will create a temporary folder. Copy this folder and save it with a different name. Now cancel the installation.

Open Regedit and search (CTRL + F) for "AppFabric". You should find the entry in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Installer \ Products {SomeStringOfCharacters}. Under this SourceList check, it will have a key called LastUsedSource. Update the path to the folder in it to match the temporary folder that we just saved. Also check SourceList / Net. He will probably have several keys with numerical names. Make sure the Data value for them matches your temporary folder path.

Now go to your temporary folder and run the Setup.exe program. He must finish now. I saw a similar behavior with other installers who first extract the files to a temporary folder. Rebooting the installer basically works from the new temporary folder, but some of its aspects are saved in the old temporary folder in the registry and try to download something from the old location.

I tried to reinstall AppFabric 1.1 on my Dev machine running Windows 8 and I am getting this error. I found here by adding the following:

 %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\

before PSModulePath (System Properties β†’ Environment Variables β†’ System Variables) solved my problem.

I also hit this error ...

The msi installation will try to create a new task in the Windows Task Scheduler to remind you to give customer feedback. This installation step is performed regardless of whether or not you use this flag to participate in the treatment of the client. In many corporate environments (including mine), creating new Windows tasks is prohibited for everyone except domain administrators. As a result, starting as a local administrator is not enough, and the whole installation fails when adding a task returns "access denied". This appears in the installation log as 1603.

The only workaround we could find was to manually remove all the files from msi, remove the β€œadd schedule task” from the installation script, and then create a new msi. After that, one line changes, it works fine.

It looks like I have all the possible problems with this installation.

Troubleshooting: look at the actual log file (in the log provided by the installer, find LOGFILE = ...):

 Process.Start: C:\Windows\system32\msiexec.exe /quiet /norestart /i "c:\2964b29c3cd7dcb37c9e\Packages\AppFabric-1.1-for-Windows-Server-64.msi" ADDDEFAULT=Worker,WorkerAdmin,CacheService,CacheClient,CacheAdmin,Setup /l*vx "c:\Temp\AppServerSetup1_1(2014-07-09 11-58-09).log" LOGFILE="c:\Temp\AppServerSetup1_1_CustomActions(2014-07-09 11-58-09).log" INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files\AppFabric 1.1 for Windows Server" LANGID=en-US

Once you have posted the actual log file, check for errors. I had to:

  • Failed to create AS_Observer:
    • Exec: c: \ Windows \ system32 \ net.exe localgroup AS_Observers / delete
  • Unable to set ACL in config folder:
    • Exec: md C: \ Windows \ SysWOW64 \ inetsrv \ config
  • COM is not registered:
    • Install activation activation function for .NET 3.5 (both HTTP and non-HTTP) and enable HTTP activation for .NET 4.5

done. Hope this helps.

In my case, it was a local group that already existed through the previous installation. Removing the local group (AS_Observers) solved my problem.

net localgroup AS_Observers / delete

hope this can help someone.

Although many links talk about deleting a finite space in an environment variable, this is not relevant to my case, since in my case there was no finite space.

https://serverfault.com/a/593339/270420

It was an answer that finally helped me. I had to remove the AS_Observers and AS_Administrators created during a previous installation attempt and then reinstall.

Running this problem fixed the problem and I was able to successfully install AppFabric. Failed to post this as a response to the server crash site due to insufficient reputation.

Last but not least, I found this page. Fairly complete reason and additional explanations.

SOLVED: Error 1306 AppFabric + Windows Server 2012

I also had a similar problem. The reason was that AppFabric generated the scheduled task, and after its removal it remained.

error message in logs:

"/ create / tn" \ Microsoft \ Windows \ AppFabric \ Customer Experience Improvement Program \ Consolidator "/ xml" C: \ Program Files \ AppFabric 1.1 for Windows Server \ Consolidator.xml "Error: ERROR: cannot create file, when this file already exists.

It is not possible to create a task because it already exists.

To remove this task.

  • Go to:% SYSTEM32% \ Tasks \ Microsoft \ Windows.
  • Delete the AppFabric folder.

Then try installing it again.

Note. You can also try to remove it from the task scheduler GUI, but in my case it was not shown there.

I had the same error. It just needed to install IIS, and it worked.

My problem was that there was already a task for the customer service improvement program in the task scheduler "\ Microsoft \ Windows \ AppFabric \ Customer Quality Improvement Program \ Consolidator". I deleted this task and after this installation was a success.

In my case, it was: - My system account contained two words: "Name and surname", for example, "Vasya Pupkin", so the web platform installer saw only the first "Vasya", so you need to rename the system user to "Vasya Pupkin" without a space character or set under a different account, - I also noticed an error in the PowerShell env path, so check the PSModulePath system variables and delete the unnecessary character (") (the SQL server path contains an error, \ PowerShell \ Modules")

I finally did it. I was able to install AppFabric for Win Server 2012 R2. I'm not quite sure what exact changes made it work. I saw and tried many different solutions on different sites, but the above decision on making changes to the registry is "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" (think twice before making changes to the registry in the production environment - this was my demo environment, so I just went ahead); I changed the temporary folder path, but it did not work the first time. Then I deleted the registry entry and then uninstalled the installed instance of AppFabric 1.1 from the control panel. Then I tried the installation and it worked. It also restored the registry entry.

Maybe I'm really late for the answer, Seriously, guys, this error decision took several hours, I tried all possible solutions.

  • IIS installation
  • Change Power Shell from an environment variable.
  • Delete a local group

So far, the solution is really very simple. If you look closely at the PSModulePath environment variable, there will be commas at the end of the value, just delete them and enjoy

Thanks for the help.

A log error actually tells you what to do. He complains because the file already exists below.

Delete the Consolidator file:

C: \ Windows \ System32 \ Tasks \ Microsoft \ Windows \ AppFabric \ Customer Service Improvement Program
