Unity3d Performance on iPhone

I'm really interested in using Unity3d to develop an application. I like the fact that I can figure out and port the application to multiple platforms (Mac / Windows / iPhone / Android), and the performance on my Mac seems pretty good.

This is the first time I will write an application for the iPhone, and I am wondering how performance problems will be in the future. I think that I will definitely use Unity3d on the iPhone for the prototype, but I wonder if creating an iPhone Unity3d application will use the resources of the iPhone as effectively as the native application written in Objective-C.

The Unity3d site seems to suggest that the Unity3d algorithms are optimized, and I thought that if I asked this question on the Unity3d forums, that would be the answer I would get. Ideally, I would be interested to hear from someone who created the application in Unity3d and Objective-C, and can compare the two.

The discussion that made me think about this was the answer by Andrei and Peter Mortensen to the question about the cost of developing iOS , which begins "There is a much simpler way to develop an iPhone app than learning Cocoa."
