Mix version control with versions of Lion Mac OS X

On Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, I made good use of version control, Mercurial in my case. After upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6 Lion, I found that several files with the new Version feature now also work in my Mercurial repository.

I am worried about the situation. I also did not find anything useful on the Internet at all, the combination of "Versions" and "Version Control" was rather ambiguous.

What problems can arise both in relation to Mercurial, and in versions? If I simply ignore Versions, can I expect Mercurial to work transparently? Are there any possibilities associated with using these two?

Versions are more like a backup. It saves the version every time you “save” (or periodically with autosave), so use it if you need to restore the version since the last version control commit.

They will work together. However, only editing in some applications will use versions, for example. Xcode, textEdit. I don't think this is the file itself, which decides whether it is in versions (i.e. vi will not update the version)

What Versions does is automatically save the file according to a Review by John Syracuse
