Implementing RESTful Web Services on Mobile Devices

I have a few questions about implementing RESTful web services on mobile devices:

  • Mobile client as a consumer of a RESTful web service: how can I create a RESTful client for mobile web services and / or use a remote RESTful web service from a mobile device?

  • Is it possible to use JSR311 (aka JAX-RS) directly to implement the RESTful website of services on a mobile device? or is there any JSR172-like or KSOAP-like for a RESTful web service on mobile devices?

  • Mobile host as a RESTful web service provider: is there a way I can host RESTful web services in a mobile device; Can I use any of the existing RESTful frameworks (i.e. Jersey, RESTlet, RESTeasy and / or Apache Wink) to do this; if not what would be a suitable lightweight HTTP servlet containers and lightweight parsers that I use to provide RESTful web services from a mobile device.

Any detailed explanation / discussion GREAT appreciated!

I would suggest that you come to REST WS with SOAP background. If so, then the first thing you need to do is forget how you did everything in SOAP and simplified everything.
