How many threads per GAE instance?

Does anyone know how many threads the GAE example ( Java , not python) creates and under what conditions? The conditions for creating new instances are well described, but there seems to be no information on how many requests a single multi-threaded Java instance can serve.

An instance processes only one thread at a time. The first request in the queue is assigned to the free instance as soon as it is created. As soon as he completes this request, he will become free again, and another request will be assigned to him. One request at a time, per instance.
