This morning, Eclipse Indigo was launched on Windows XP SP3 and noticed that this was taking an unusually long time; I have startup plugins disabled and my startup time usually takes a few seconds.
Finally, Eclipse opened the welcome screen. I found it a bit strange given my default perspective - Workbench. So I clicked Workbench and the Explorer Package was empty - all my projects were gone. In addition, all my carefully configured settings have been reset.
Fortunately, my project files are still intact and I can import them.
This used to happen before on a Mac with Galileo and was thought to be just an accident, but now it's twice that Eclipse has become self-aware.
I regularly used Indigo for months and did not change anything in the settings or .ini during my last session. I do not use AV and there are no malware on my computer.
This is dangerous behavior for a commercial-grade IDE — any ideas on why this might happen and what can be done to prevent it in the future?
