Gitolite package does not create user

I installed gitolit using

apt-get install gitolite

and in accordance with this tutorial (and many others) should be a user of githolite, but when I do

su - gitolite

i get Unknown id: gitolite

Do I need to create it manually? I must add that this is the second time I try to install gitolite, so I uninstalled it first and then installed it again. Maybe there are few things left that were not deleted?

Just run the following command and the user will be created:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure gitolite
