Modernizr to support ie8 multimedia queries

I am considering using modernizr to support media queries in ie8. Could you give an example to implement the same.

I also looked at Respond.js, but found it a bit complicated with all the CDN stuff.

Any other suggestions would also be appreciated.

Respond.js is required if you want to use media queries in IE8. This is a polyfill that resolves media queries for the browser.

Modernizr offers only a test for media recordings. According to the document, in an older non-supporting browser, the test will always return false.

Media queries are not supported in Internet Explorer 8. Also, this does not work with modernizr. Modernizr does not add functionality to the browser. And why do you want to add media queries in ie8? Media queries are for mobile websites. Media queries are not designed for desktop browsers.
