The easiest way to apply a series of git patches from Thunderbird

I have mail with N attachments in the format 000X-xxxx.patch. I would like to apply all corrections on top of my master, but I would like all commits to be separated from each other, since their author is original. Including a commit message, of course.

Method 1. Open the email, click Save As, xxx.eml, and then:

git am xxx.eml

The result is fine, but everything is crushed into one commit. Unacceptably.

Method 2. All attachments are saved in the directory, and then:

git am 000*.patch
Patch format detection failed.
git apply 000*.patch
(does nothing)

This does not work. Advice? Thank.
