Browser detects content functions

Question

I understand that finding a browser is usually not a good idea, however, since each browser has a different implementation of the content, I need a way to highlight my fixes for each.

In particular:

gecko and webkit require that they <br />be inserted at the end of empty paragraphs, otherwise they will be automatically deleted.

ie and opera treat this <br />as normal <br />and insert a new line.

I need to specify which browser, or at least which of the implementations to use.

Please, could you help me find a method?
