How expensive is Java (Solr) thread dump?

As part of some ongoing maintenance, we accept regular thread threads for all threads in the JVM at one-minute intervals. (E.g. curl http://localhost:8983/solr/admin/threaddump.jsp)

What is the effectiveness / other negative consequences of continuing this practice indefinitely?

JVM thread dumps are generally cheap, low impact, regardless of application. Jmap -histos, on the other hand, can greatly affect performance. I work in maintenance, we do a lot of thread dumps, we never saw a direct failure caused by a thread reset.
