Does anyone know how to change the default vim mode? Its default mode is command mode, but can I change it to insert mode?

The default mode of Vim will be changed to insert mode. Just click Escto enter command mode.
You can try "insertmode" (add set insertmodeto your .vimrc file), although I recommend that you study the standard vi operation, because not all vi-like editors support this mode of operation.
