? icon after file names in Xcode

Xcode sometimes has a field ?, Aor Ma field to the right of the file name. What are the meanings of these icons? Will they affect how the project compiles and runs on a simulator or device?

These are version control status labels. M means the file has been modified, A means that it has been added, and? means your version control system does not yet know about this.

M = Locally Modified

U = Updated in repository

A =
