How can I check the App Store app for Mac?

In my application, how can I check if there is an update in the Mac App Store and notify the user about it?

As an example, Sparrow does this.

Charcoal Design has an open source component that does this: iVersion. But you need to add a file on your server to read your application. Whenever you update a version, just change the information on your server, and iVersion will show the user that a new version is available.
