Is there something like MAMP for Ruby on Rails?

I want to learn Ruby on Rails. I would like for a development environment that did not install on my laptop, I would like the stand-alone installation to be similar to MAMP for PHP. Is there such a thing?

I’m not going to squeeze Ruby on Rails into MAMP, I don’t really like dropping it from the terminal today. I am looking for a nice and easy to use, download and play with Ruby on Rails in a standalone system.

take a look at homebrew if you are using a mac. If you are on the windows, life will be difficult, unfortunately. You can try http://railsinstaller.org/
