Hot Twitter Retrieval Topics

Question

I am creating a website to search and display the hottest topics on Twitter for my final project. Does anyone know how to extract topics from a huge number of tweets in the last week or in one day? I am also interested in how to show topics, such as a tag cloud, at http://tweet3d.com/ and show the trend of each topic, for example http://trendistic.indextank.com/ .

I really need your help, as this is the final project write-off at the end of this month. My partner asks me to use Flash Builder, I also learned to use this. Thanks guys.
