Sending mail with PHP - is this an error at my end or is the mail server?

Question

I am trying to send email via SMTP from my PHP script while working through CodeIgniter.

See below for debug output. Whether this is an indicator of a problem at my end with PHP ( Unable to send email using PHP SMTP) or from their end ( hello: 250-parrot.email-provider.co.uk), which would imply that it connected to their server, since the actual SMTP server I entered was there mail2.email-provider.co.uk, so it seems to connect and redirect on this thing parrot).

My SMTP details I confirmed that it is correct, but it still says that the password cannot be authenticated - although the same password works in my own mail clients.

I changed the name of my site and the name of the provider (I did not want it to be called and be a shame if it was my mistake!):
