HttpWebRequest slow fix by setting proxy to null

I fixed that the initial HttpWebRequest calls were slow, using the sentence mentioned in

Why is this WebRequest code slow?

One of the suggestions mentioned for setting the proxy to zero and things will speed up.

I did it and it worked.

However, I am concerned about the impact of this when I deploy it to some client sites ....

Perhaps, on some client sites, they configured their domain on a proxy server to access the server on which I make my HttpWebRequest.

Would it be correct to set the proxy server to zero?

thank
