Sometimes HTML video does not start automatically after loading

Question

Sometimes the HTML video at the very top of my site does not work, although after it has been fully loaded. I am using Safari 5.0.6 on iMac. In other browsers, sometimes it works fine, and from time to time it only starts when the page is refreshed.

Can you guess what could be causing this? or how can i fix this?

Having received the same problem in chrome, autoplay can be emulated as follows (using the jQuery selector):

<video ..... oncanplay="$(this)[0].play()" >...</video>
