Is it wrong to use * when reselling fields / padding in CSS?

Should you follow or laud for its simplicity?

For recording, I use it on every site that I create, but I noticed that it is not present in many CSS-reset main-stream infrastructures - is there a reason why they also do not use it?

* { margin: 0; padding: 0; }

It is better NOT to use it, as it causes problems with form elements, especially the input buttons and selections.

Of course, I associate it with IE conditional comments to write separate sections of the IE version around my page and use them to deal with IE errors (since FF and others are generally more accurate for the CSS specification).

EDIT - and I never noticed any performance issues.
