How to disable auto-alignment of components in Netbeans?

Is there a way or plugin that disables the automatic alignment of Netbeans components? When I put a shortcut, all my components accidentally hit the panel, and not how I configured them. Every time I add a component, the window becomes resized or some component is executed.

Select a layout that is different from the default values GroupLayout. It’s better to do some manually to get this idea, as suggested in the Visual Guide for Layout Managers .

Appendix: @Paul convincingly proves the use of a graphical editor. Although I tend to agree, I see two reasonable use cases:

  • For beginners: A convenient way to experiment with less familiar layouts.
  • For an experienced developer: the way you manage this complex layout that you just know will change, as suggested here .

As a NetBeans user for a long time (more than 11 years ... geez, I am aging), and as someone who has worked exclusively in Swing for more than half of this time, I think I am qualified to give you the following advice:

Do not use the WYSIWYG UI editor.

When using netbeans to develop a GUI application, set the JFrame Layout to Free Design. Drag the panel onto the JFrame and set its Layout to Null Layout. Now you can freely create your own graphical interface without any difficulties.
