Spotify application / home directory location (local Windows development)?

My Spotify development account is on and I am trying to get through their simple tutorial application (http://developer.spotify.com/download/spotify-apps-api/tutorial/). Here I should note that I am on a Win 7 workstation.

When I try to download a local application by typing "spotify: app: Tutorial" in the search field, I get the following msg / error: "Sorry, I found this application. Metadatafailed URI: spotify: app: Tutorial Error: appNotFound."

I tried adding the application files to the following directories and still get the error:

  • C: \ Users \ Me \ Documents \ Spotify \ Tutorial (note that this directory does not exist, I created it)
  • C: \ Users \ Me \ AppData \ Local \ Spotify
  • C: \ Users \ Me \ AppData \ Local \ Spotify \ Users \ me a user
  • C: \ Users \ Me \ AppData \ Roaming \ Spotify
  • C: \ Users \ Me \ AppData \ Roaming \ Spotify \ Users \ I-user

So, where exactly do you intend to add files so that Spotify downloads local applications?

Thank!

Your first guess is correct (C: \ Users \ Me \ Documents \ Spotify \ Tutorial). However, you need to run the latest version of the preview ( https://www.spotify.com/uk/download/previews/ ). And on my PC, I had to completely uninstall and reinstall the application before the developer options were turned on.

. run Spotify as administrator, .

And the path I used was: C:\Users\me\Documents\Spotify

I had the same problem: Spotify could not find the directory of my application, even if the corresponding folder was created in the "My Documents" folder.

I fixed it by running Spotify as an administrator.
