Maven and * VERY SLOW * Internet connection: how to speed up the download?

My Internet connection is VERY SLOW (<50 Kbps, most of the time), and because of this, I would like to know if there is a way to speed up loading the dependencies of the Maven project? I am looking for a function on Maven, such as partitioned loading, similar to Firefox DownThemAll, Free Download Manager, Axel (linux), etc.

Set up a local repository that knows about the remote ones, and point your maven client to the local repo.

Your first download of each dependency will still be slow since it still uses a slow internet connection, but subsequent ones will use the local cache.
