I recently wrote myself an ear Clipping Triangulator as a personal study. After visualizing some of the results, I cannot help but feel that the object can be reproduced using triangles n-2. Unfortunately, my small library of graphic books could not lead me to any possible algorithms or methods to achieve this.
I know simplification, of course, but this affects the real shape and appearance of the model. I just want to remove extraneous triangles. Is it even possible? Or do we need a more efficient triangulation method?
For example, the upper diamond-shaped object consists of 34 triangles. On paper, I was able to triangulate it using only 18.
