How to compile PJSip iPhone for device and simulator for working with siphon on iOS 3 and iOS 4?

I am trying to compile and run pjsip and siphon for iOS 3 and iOS 4.

I follow the instructions through pjsip.org in the Getting Started section for iPhone.

I also follow the instructions on the siphon website.

My goal is to make the siphon application work on my device and simulator for both iOS 3 and iOS4, but just going through the pjsip compilation stage was a headache.

So, I decided to just compile the device and at least run the siphon, but that seems to hurt more.

The compilation instructions are not clear (at least not for me as for beginners), and in addition, there are two sets of compilation commands: 1) read me inside the source code and 2) on the site’s wiki page.

My questions are as follows:

  • What are the step-by-step instructions on how to get pjsip and siphon to compile and run on both devices and Simultaor for iOS 3 and 4. (I am aware of the lipo command, but I don’t understand how to use it, given that there are many files and there are too many opportunities to commit errors)
  • Should I work with pjsip version 1.x or version 2.x?
  • Is the siphon updated?
  • The siphon source directory has siphon2 and the siphon4 directory ... but only the siphon2 directory has .xcodeproj. How to implement siphon4 project files?
