Why does this conversion use CATransform3D, reducing the width of the view?

Take a look at the following image sequence:

What happens here, first I chose “Baseball”, forcing 3 gray views to see that you are turning left, so that one with different levels is in the middle (second image). You can see that already at that moment the width of the view was significantly reduced. The third image appears after clicking on the view containing the names of the sports, forcing it to turn back to the middle.

From what I can say, the width of the view decreases when it rotates in the middle. But I have no idea why.
