Xmpp and rubies on rail integration guidelines?

An attempt to build a simple 1-1 with the XMPP protocol, for example, on facebook (offline, online and 1-1 with a friend)

There are several ruby xmpp libraries on github, but they are not easy to choose between them, every xmsp rails solution I have looked at is outdated.

A few questions:

  • Is xmpp for rubies on rails a way to create facebook like 1-1 IM? (looked at websockets privatepub, juggernaut (rip)), everything is missing somewhere, nothing can beat the XMPP protocol
  • What is the best XMPP stone for connecting rails with an XMPP @ 2012 server? many of them seem outdated, is there any project that is used by -now- and has not been updated for some time, but is strong enough to be used in the project?

After a long dig, I found a good solution to fix this:

  • ejabberd xMPp server memory and full features
  • rails 3 + strophe and ember.js (or another framework, but strophe is an xmpp client in JS)

It seems like a complete solution, now only you have to write a client

AFAIK, there is no easy way to integrate Rails with the XMPP server. You can try https://github.com/maccman/juggernaut for chat / them.
