Touch to Beam, the only way to send NFC (ICS)?

I know that you answered a similar question in ICS: https://stackoverflow.com/a/464829/

But there is something that I would still like to know, because I am working on my master's thesis, and therefore I need this function:

  • Is it true that there is no way to send NFC from an application without tapping the screen? (as shown in the StickyNotes example in "Like NFC")

  • Will this great NFC feature be available again in the future?

  • Is it true that by disabling AndroidBeam in the settings, the NFC sending function is completely disabled. Can you receive only NFC?

Thanks in advance. BTW: I am using Android ICS 4.0.1
