How can I create my own Android app store server?

Requirements:

  • It must be accessible via the Internet, and not just inside corporate networks (that is, it must have an interface)
  • The App Store server must be located domestically (i.e. third-party hosting services)
  • It is advisable to protect username / password
  • It is advisable to automatically send updates to authorized devices

The reason for this is that we want to make a limited beta version of our application for approximately 1000 users, and we need a way to distribute updates on the devices of these users without making our beta software available to the general public.

At first, we explored simply placing the APK on the Apache web server, but since we wanted to restrict access, we tried to put the username / password on the web server. Well, it turns out that the Android boot manager has an error that prohibits downloading files to the phone if it is protected by htaccess.

Next, we thought about using an FTP server, and then just installed an FTP client on each beta tester device, but it's quite noisy. This is our final version.

It seems that the best is the internal application server. Is there a solution for this? Preferably free / open source, if possible.
