550 is not available when loading an FtpWebRequest class file. Works great in FileZilla

I search and find other questions on this, but no one has solved my problems. I am trying to upload a file via FTP using the sample MSDN code. I get The remote server returned an error: (550) A file error (for example, the file was not found, without access) in this line: ftpstream.Close ();

I double-checked the URI for spaces, and there are none. I can complete this task using filezilla with the same username. There is no unique default directory that is already part of my URI. One thing is certain, that I am connecting to a unix server, so maybe there is a parameter that I am missing?
