Xcode Organizer - service is not valid

Question

I am using Xcode 4.3 (on Lion), and the second-generation iPod is indeed displayed but displays “Invalid service” (0xE8000022). I tried all possible combinations of restarting / reconnecting the device and even restored the OS on the device ... any ideas on how to further understand this?

EDIT - I initially suggested restarting the device, but I realized that you already did it.
