To make the <p> element not cover the full width in the Android browser

I was asked to look at a strange problem and could not understand it. Mostly items

usually cover the entire width as they are block elements, but on certain pages that they don't seem to want. I tested this on standard ICS Android and Dolphin, and it works on both. This question summarizes this problem, only the answer does not work: Why the browser will not cover this paragraph over the entire width of the browser?

UPDATE: weird solution? If I installed the following CSS p {background: #fff; } it solves the problem, which may cause some strange problems. The problem is that the background should be transparent.
