Open function after loading a document?

I am developing an iOS application that allows users to download documents from a server. I got this to work fine, and they can even view the document. However, I want the document to have the “Open in” action, so when you click the button, the user can select another application that allows you to view PDF documents - for example, the Kindle application, is this possible?

Darn, I wanted you to say “MacOS” because that would make the answer a lot more fun (and skillful).

As far as I know, iOS still does not have an official SDK legal way for one application (your application) to randomly launch another application and point to an arbitrary document. This is part of the magic (?) Of the Need to live in your own application sandbox.

On a Macintosh, that would be easy with Apple Events (by the way).
