SaaS LDAP / directory service?

Question

I know that my Googling skills fail because it should be something like this: a simple and easy-to-use remote directory service (and even better, provides a user directory through several different interfaces and SSOs).

Do you know anyone and / or can recommend?

I am watching Atlassian Crowd - http://www.atlassian.com/software/crowd/overview - which is close to pluggable interfaces but does not implement LDAP. It can only connect to an existing LDAP server.
